Don’t you just hate it when something amazing is right there under your nose, and you just miss it?! Well, that is exactly what happened to us three with this coffee shop in Frisco! This amazing coffee and book shop is in Chuck Swindoll’s Insight for Living Ministry building, which we pass on Preston Rd. ALL the time! I had heard about it’s opening earlier this year from a coworker, but finally had the chance to check it out. Let me tell you, Madison, Kaylee, and I were NOT disappointed by any stretch of the imagination with this incredible shop.
Here’s everything you need to know about The Book Shoppe and Coffee:
Appearance: This shop is in the large Chuck Swindoll Insight for Living Ministry Building and it is NICE. The outside is just as inviting as the inside with the gorgeous arches, light colored stone, different countries’ flags displayed, and outdoor seating. You walk into the shop and you’re greeted by the warm wood flooring, wooden pillars, and brick walls. I would describe the shop as a mix between a castle and cottage. The style isn’t as stuffy as a castle, but it has the luxuries of one. And the shop isn’t as rustic as a cottage, but it has the homeyness and charm of one. It is the perfect mixture of both, which I adore. The stunning fire place, artwork, kid’s area, decorated shelves, and light fixtures, truly make this shop unique and comfortable.
Location: This coffee shop has a prime location, right off of Preston Road. If you are shopping at the Stonebriar Centere, or anywhere on Preston Rd. for that matter, this coffee shop is just a hop, skip, and a jump away!
The Coffee: This coffee shop has Peru Coffee, Papua New Guinea Coffee, Brazilian Coffee, and Costa Rican Coffee all roasted locally. The shop also has their bagged coffee that you can purchase and enjoy at home. While they have many different coffee drinks to choose from, Madison and Kaylee played it safe with one of their usuals, a vanilla latte. They were big fans and got it iced because when it’s 1,000 degrees outside that’s how we like it. I also had the spirit of summer and ordered the cold brew lemonade, which was fantastic. The drink combined two of my favorite drinks, and the flavors surprisingly complimented each other wonderfully. I love trying fun, quirky drinks! I cannot wait to see what drinks they are going to have available for fall! Fun fact: 20% of the coffee purchased in the shop goes to language translations of Insight for Living books.
Drive thru? While there isn’t a drive through, there’s plenty of parking options. You don’t want to miss out on the beauty and charm of this shop anyway!
Is this shop good for studying, get-togethers, hanging out? Since this shop is also a book store, I would say that it is the perfect place for studying and getting work done! It has all the library/book store vibes that makes a place great for working on stuff. The living room and homey feel of the shop contributes to a good working atmosphere in my opinion. When we visited the shop, there were a few business men working and an older couple chatting. I would say that this coffee shop is great for working and having a one to one conversation with a friend. The shop was chill and pretty quiet, other than the lovely Gospel music playing in the background that always makes me feel warm inside.
Kid’s area: The Book Shoppe and Coffee has an incredible kids’ area that was complete with a little table and benches, a t.v. with children’s shows, children’s books and a massive colorful map of the world. I think it is so cool that they have this area for kids to cultivate a love of reading and love of God. The Book Shoppe and Coffee has Children’s Story time for kids of all ages on Thursdays (with the exception of Thanksgiving and the day after Christmas) at 10-10:30 a.m. I love story time and think this is a great way to build community between moms, dads, and children in the area.
Favorite part? Other than the coffee being delicious, I would say my favorite part of the shop is the feeling that you have when visiting. The baristas were so friendly and knowledgable and the atmosphere of the shop is so comforting. There’s nothing like the combination of a book store and coffee shop, in my opinion. I cannot wait to visit this shop again very soon!
