In this very moment, as I am sitting here, I am soaking in the music and sweet sounds of light conversation here around me in CJ’s Coffee Cafe in Sherman. It’s been a minute, but we have visited the CJ’s in Denison on Main Street. Since then, they have opened a location in Sherman and I have been wanting to visit for a while. We finally did and here’s what we thought…
What you need to know about CJ’s Coffee Cafe in Sherman:
Location: The location is great, right off of 75 in Sherman. It is a quick four minute drive from Austin College for all of the sleep deprived college kids in town. It was not hard to find, by any means, and there’s a parking lot right in front of the shop.
Appearance of the shop: So cute!!! The outside of the shop is white with different coffee themed wall art, which is perfect for Instagram. There is a lite coffee sign by the entrance, as well, which is a cool touch. The interior of the shop is comfortable with a touch of industrial modern. It was hard to label this shop as just one type of style because there are so many quirky and unique touches around the shop like a windmill light fixture, little vases on the tables filled with coffee beans and adorable yellow flowers, and muted tie dye booth cushions.
Do I come here to chill, study, or socialize? Yay- All three! Even though this isn’t the biggest shop in the world, the seating is positioned perfectly to fit as many people as possible. There’s a tucked away bar area, long tall tables with a lot of seating, a booth area, single tables, and a little nook with comfy cushioned chairs. There were people here doing all three things. I always think it is so much fun seeing everyone doing what they need to do together and coexisting together.
Coffee? There were SO many coffee options here, we were having problems deciding what to get. The barista was AWESOME and had some of the best customer service I have had in my life. She directed all three of us on what drink we should order after given our preferences. For me, she recommended the iced honey bee with natural honey and vanilla in the form of a latte. It was perfect!! I told her that I didn’t want a sweet drink, so she only did half of the flavoring and it was wonderful. The coffee taste was beautifully complimented by the slight flavors of honey and vanilla. Montanna got the brown sugar latte. She said that similarly to mine, the flavoring was just enough not to overtake the delicious coffee taste. Montanna said the foam was really on point and there was a lot of it. Kaylee ordered the iced hazelnut macchiato with caramel drizzle. Even though it is a bit sweet at first, after it sets, the flavors kind of mellow out and she ended up loving it. If you aren’t a big sweet drink fan, this isn’t for you. CJ’s has their own off site roasters and their beans are super fresh. Our barista said that they go through the expresso beans every three days and the drip coffee like every five days.
Can you purchase the beans in store? You can!! There are so many different options for you to choose from right when you walk in. They also have coffee necessities like a pour over and travel coffee cups.
Drive thru? Yes, there is!
Food options? They have SO many food options to go with your yummy coffee. They have morning treats and breakfast options that range from an egg and cheese breakfast bowl to a danish. For lunch and dinner, they have sandwiches, soups, salads, and sides. Don’t even get me started on the scrumptious desserts. We got a slice of the red velvet cake that looks just as good as it tastes. YUM!
What stuck out to you about this shop? From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and comfortable. The barista was so incredibly helpful and that honestly made our visit so enjoyable because she pointed us to drinks that we absolutely loved.
